Unreal Engine 3 vendor strikes licence agreement with Anipark

Two new deals for Epic Games Korea

Epic Games has taken another progressive step in its plans to succeed on the global stage with its popular game platform, Unreal Engine 3.

The North Carolina-based company has struck a deal with Korean studio Anipark, which has licensed the engine for two separate projects.

Anipark said it will use UE3 as the platform to build a sequel to its baseball title MaguMagu as well as an entirely new MMORPG.

The Seoul based studio made the deal after networking and discussions with Epic Games Korea, a newly-opened subsidiary of the Unreal Engine group.

"We selected Unreal Engine 3 for our baseball game because of its ability to handle massive amounts of integrated data easily and efficiently," said Kwon Min Kwan, development director at Anipark.

"There was no question that Unreal Engine 3 was the right choice. We know the Unreal Engine team has the right tools and support to help us realize our vision for our next titles."

Epic Games has in recent times emphasised its determination to succeed across the Asian territories, having recently opened a dedicated Tokyo office.
