UK Games Fund seeks mentors and more for talent development

The UK Games Fund is calling for developers and other members of the games industry to assist with its talent development initiatives.

While the government-funded project is known to the industry for its £4m plans to help finance new gaming prototypes, the organisation’s ambitions stretch beyond merely funding games.

The Fund also wants to help develop new talent and studios in order to improve the overall UK games industry, giving devs the chance to learn more about business processes and identify opportunities to show off their creations.

Volunteers are sought to support these efforts, with a focus on mentors that can help guide new talent and developer hubs that would house applicants to the UK Games Talent contests.

“Much of the sector hasn’t realised yet that we’re not just about providing grant funding” said Paul Durrant, founder of the Community Interest Company that runs the fund. 

“The UK Games Fund is just one part of a series of projects designed to boost the UK’s games development sector. With our first round of funding now closed we’re turning our attention to a major new talent support project.”
