British game firms have the chance to meet Mexican companies and pitch to investors

UKTI taking British game creators on Mexican tour

The UK Trade and Investment body is inviting video games and animation companies to join an upcoming trade visit to Mexico.

The Government-led excursion, known as Great Week Mexico, is intended to help British firms to meet major buyers, potential partners, industry experts and influencers, and will begin on November 11th.

Britain’s game development talent has only recently been championed by the Great campaign, which exists to promote the nation’s businesses and generate opportunities for investment.

Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet and Mind Candy’s Moshi Monsters were among the British-made franchises chosen for a new line of posters unveiled at Gamescom to promote the UK video game business.

At Great Week Mexico, participating companies can expect a tour to discover business opportunities and learn about the games and animation industries in Mexico and visits to the most famous studios and games companies in Mexico City.

Furthermore, there will be one-to-one meetings between developers and investors, a seminar on doing business in Mexico and meetings with the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world, Televisa.

UKTI is viewing Mexico as a major opportunity for UK games firms. Furthermore, almost 35 per cent of the total game market corresponds to games for the PC, as well as mobile and portable consoles, such as the DS and PSP.

Great Week Mexico runs from November 11th to 15th, 2013.
