Unity reiterates Windows plans

Unity Technologies has reiterated its plans for a Windows version of the game engine at its Unite 2008 development conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Currently Mac only, CEO Dave Helgasson told us earlier this month that widening the compatibility of the development suite will see the tool grow massively in popularity.

“It’s a very, very high priority,” Helgason told us. “There’s a lot of work in there, and it’s happening alongside all the other development work. Being a Mac-only tool is limiting. Our most pessimistic view is that we’ll triple sales on the day we release the Windows version of Unity.”

The company has also added compatibility for the iPhone to the Unity engine – first announced in April this year.
