TPO Gaming to adapt game graphics technology to training sims

US Army opens game technology office

The US army has opened a new office dedicated to gaming technology, TSJOnline is reporting.

The TRADOC Project Office for Gaming will not be a game studio, but will be focused on adapting video game graphics technology to military simulations for soldiers and small-unit leaders.

TPO Gaming director Col. Jack Millar told TSJOnline: “We will focus on the visualisation piece of these technologies, not so much the entertainment piece.”

The office has been established to create a ‘toolkit’ that’ll allow users to rapidly build and play scenarios for training purposes without the need of external contractors, with the aim of being able to rehearse mission plans before entering the field.
