Texas-based Blast Factor developer Bluepoint helps switch PS2 titles to PS3

US indie studio signed for God of War conversion

Sony has announced plans to release retooled versions of its God of War PS2 games for the PS3 – and has signed up US independent studio Bluepoint to help with the conversion.

The new versions of God of War 1 and 2 will boast Trophy support and HD visuals, all stored on a Blu-ray disc – which conveniently arrives in stores a few months before the arrival of 2010’s God of War 3.

The games were originally developed by SCEA’s Santa Monica Studio.

Bluepoint was founded in 2006 and made its debut with the release of Blast Factor for the PlayStation Network.

In the official announcement Scott Rohde, vice president, Worldwide Studios America said: "We are excited today to announce God of War Collection. Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720p on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected."
