Video Games ‘good for you’ claims parenting expert

Scott Steinberg, the bestselling author of the Modern Parent’s Guide series, has released a free eight page tipsheet detailing some of the positive effects games can have on kids and adults alike.

In The Modern Parents Guide to Kids and Video Games, Steinberg lays out his guidlines for parents in the digital age, from online safety to choosing how much and what a child will play.

The book is now available for free download.

The new tipsheet outlines research showing how games can be ‘good for you’.

"With 91% of kids now gamers according to the NPD Group , and more children aged 2-5 able to play computer games and smartphone apps than ride a bike or tie their shoelaces, concern is understandable," writes Steinberg.

"But the truth that audiences seldom hear is that the vast majority of software titles are perfectly safe and fun for families, and capable of impacting them in positive ways."

Steinberg is CEO of TechSavvy Global, a business consulting and product testing firm, and is a columnist for Entrepreneur, CNN, and Rolling Stone.
