The industry icons guide us through their history founding Epic Games and what the award means to them

VIDEO: Tim Sweeney and Mark Rein honoured as Development Legends

Epic founder Tim Sweeney and VP Mark Rein were honoured with the Development Legend accolade at last week’s Develop Awards, and you can watch their reaction right here.

The duo were awarded for their contributions to the industry over 22 years, launching major franchises such as Gears of War and Unreal, and acting as a technology pioneer through its industry leading development platform Unreal Engine.

They join a list of industry icons to have received the Development Legend award, which includes Peter Molyneux, David Braben, Charles Cecil, Phil Harrison, Ian Livingstone and David Perry.

In the video, Sweeney and Rein take a look back over the past 22 years, reliving the journey of how Epic was founded, and how it became one of the biggest companies in gaming today. Keep an eye out for two very different accounts on how the two first met.

Enjoy!
