Game developer to expand further into movie industry

Virtuos acquires 3D animation studio Sparx

Digital entertainment outsourcing company Virtuos has acquired 3D animation studio Sparx.

The new owners said the deal also allows the company to expand and consolidate its service offerings to clients in the movie industry.

“Bringing together Virtuos’ art production infrastructure with Sparx expertise in film-quality animation, cinematics and VFX, we will be able to offer a more fully integrated solution for all our clients,” said Virtuos CEO Gilles Langourieux.

Virtuos is currently developing games such as Ghost Recon Predator for the PSP and is adapting Sid Meier’s Pirates for the Wii, whilst Sparx has previously worked on films such as Igor and Dragon Hunters.
