Staff move onto Guillermo del Toro trilogy, due for release from 2013

Volition in transition as THQ scraps Red Faction

THQ appears to have called time on its Red Faction series, due to a declining interest in the action series.

It means the Red Faction dev team at Illinois-based Volition will now move onto the Insane project, of which movie director Guillermo del Toro is collaborating on.

CEO Brian Farrell told THQ investors that the publisher “does not intend to carry forward with that franchise in any meaningful way."

In March, THQ issued redundancies at Volition. The near-200 strong dev team was not thought to have been significantly reduced.

Weeks later, Volition co-founder Mike Kulas quit the studio, bringing an end to nearly two decades of work at the studio.
