Zombie MMO continues to take a beating

War Z server attacked in wake of user criticism

The War Z’s server has been attacked this week, as the tussle between the developer and users who feel they were hoodwinked by the zombie MMO rolls on.

The game’s community manager Patrick Bowman posted on its forums yesterday that an attacked had been committed which had brought its server down.

“This morning we are being hit, again, with a DDOS attack on our login server,” he wrote. “We are implementing additional DDoS protection and hope to have this resolved asap. Unfortunately with these types of attacks it is very difficult to give a good time frame of when it will be resolved.”

Earlier in the week, Bowman said its server was “hit with an attack that would rest our DNS IP so that you could not connect”.

War Z is an online zombie survive game created by Hammerpoint Interactive.

The fury surrounding it steams from angry over claims of “misleading advertising”, which lead to the sales of the game being halted on Steam.

Executive producer Sergey Titov took to the forums to apologise earlier this week in an effort to calm matters.
