Mobile arm headed by Marat Karpeko and David Bluhm

Wargaming opens mobile division WG Cells

Wargaming has opened a dedicated new mobile game publishing and development division WG Cells.

It will have two studios based in Seattle and Kiev, and will be headed by Wargaming’s Marat Karpeko and former DropForge Games CEO David Bluhm.

Games already released under the label include strategy RPG Loot & Legends, Pound Sand studios’ third-person shooter Fantastic Plastic Squad and RPG title Smash Squad.

Wargaming has been expanding its presence in the mobile market for the last two years. The World of Tanks developer opened its Seattle studio in November 2013, and in May earlier this year it teamed up with Belarus mobile outfit Melesta Games.

The company has also previously released World of Tanks Blitz on mobile, which garnered more than 35 million downloads and is described as the catalyst for the creation of WG Cells.

“Wargaming is committed to developing a strong mobile gaming business as one of our major pillars of our corporate strategy,” said Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi.

“We understand that the mobile market is massive and has even greater potential. WG Cells allows us to take advantage of this market, provide great games and expand our product scope.”
