Riot Games and Oculus investors back US studio

World Zombienation dev raises $6m

World Zombienation developer Proletariat has raised $6m in a Series A funding round.

Oculus and Riot Games investors Spark Capital and FirstMark Capital, as well as Atlas Ventures, are backing the studio. FirstMark’s Rick Heitzmann and Spark’s Nabeel Hyatt have also joined the board.

Proletariat CEO Seth Sivak said the studio will use the funds to continue development of online multiplayer game World Zombienation, build its community and make more titles.

“I view this $6 million as both freedom and security, for the entire Proletariat team,” he said.

“This ensures that we can stay independent and have full control of the projects we choose to build. This investment allows us to stay focused on our mission of building the games we care about in an industry that is rapidly shifting.”
