Zoo Tycoon goes free-to-play

Microsoft has revealed a new free-to-play entry into its Zoo Tycoon IP at the Develop Conference.

Developed be Behaviour Interactive, Zoo Tycoon Friends is being created for Windows Phone and Windows 8.

The new entry will include both in-app purcahses and in-game advertising.

Zoo Tycoon Friends is being built in the Unity game engine. It will also use Microsoft’s Azure cloud service to allow users to play the game across various devices.

The title will be released in limited markets this summer. A full launch date is yet to be announced.
