Zynga and EA vets launch free-to-play studio

Industry veterans have launched a new free-to-play studio called Rumble Entertainment.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the new development team includes developers, executives and product leaders from development giants such as Blizzard, Electronic Arts, BioWare and Zynga.

"Our team has helped ship 20+ platinum selling games, launched multiple social games played by millions and created billions of dollars of value for stakeholders,” states the Rumble website.

The new US based triple-A studio’s says its aim is to “create the most engaging and fulfilling online game experiences on the planet” and that all their games will be free-to-play.

Members of the Rumble team include Playdom founder Rick Thompson, former EA vice president David O’Connor and ex BioWare CEO Greg Richardson.

Thompson is also the lead investor in Rumble, which has raised about $2 million in funding.
