Avalanche Studios get $10million investment from Nordisk Film

Nordisk Film, a leading entertainment company owned by Danish media group Egmont, has invested more that $10 million in to game developer Avalanche Studios.

The investment is in the form of a minority ownership share in the developer with the intention of acceleration its growth in the gaming market internationally.

Avalanche Studios have been in operation since 2003 with their most recent release, Just Cause 3, coming out in 2015. They have also developed the open world Mad Max game and theHunter series, which boasts over 7 million registered players on the classic version of the game.

Avalanche also use their own open world engine in house tech called Apex and currently employs over 270 people in the US and Sweden.

“I am excited that we have the opportunity of becoming co-owners of Avalanche Studios, which has a very solid and proven track record in the global gaming market”, said Allan Mathson Hansen, CEO of the newly formed Nordisk Film. “We are investing heavily in gaming and look forward to working with Avalanche Studios on bringing the company to the next level. Gaming fits our profile very well. We are used to working with creative people, commercializing creative products and developing IPs.”
