Disney Infinity delayed at the request of retail

Upcoming Skylanders rival Disney Infinity has been delayed by one month.

The game had been due for release in June but will now arrive in Europe on August 23rd.

Furthermore, the move comes not due to development concerns but instead after it was requested by retailers, who wanted to see it released at a point when games buyers are typically more active.

"The date became an issue in terms of them [retailers] asking, ‘is there a better opportunity here?’,” Disney Interactive co-president John Pleasants told the New York Times.

Key market rival Skylanders Swap Force currently has a vague ‘autumn’ release date, and Disney admits that getting to market ahead of Activision’s title remains important.

Added Pleasants: "We think it’s good to be first and really lean into the most important selling season of the year."
