Fantasy Flight Games launches new division, Fantasy Flight Interactive

Board game publisher Fantasy Flight Games is strengthening its digital presence by opening a new division with Asmodee North America, named Fantasy Flight Interactive.

The new studio will develop games and new digital experiences both adapting and based on the Fantasy Flight Games brands. The board game company has developed many licensed titles including the Star Wars X-Wing series and its expansions, along with the Arkham Horror series of games.

The new studio will be developing projects built exclusively for Steam with Asmodee Digital handling publishing for the titles. Heading up the new studio will be Tim Gerritsen. Gerritsen has over two decades of game development experience having worked at Sega of America and became chairman Human Head Studios, the team behind Rune and the original Prey. He later returned to Human Head after leaving for Bioshock developer Irrational Games.

“We’re incredibly excited to be bringing Fantasy Flight Games’ best game properties to life as amazing video game experiences,” said Gerritsen. “Fantasy Flight Interactive is made up of developers who love both tabletop games and video games and we are striving to create games that capture the best aspects of both media to entertain our fans.”

“We didn’t create a new company just to translate board games into digital games," added Fantasy Flight Games founder, Christian T. Petersen. "We’re focused on the bigger picture of the experiences our fans can have on new platforms, and this will take our brands in new directions."
