Former Lionhead devs launching Fable card game on Kickstarter

Though Fable studio Lionhead has been closed, the iconic RPG franchise is not dead yet.

As reported by IGN, the developer was secretly developing a free-to-play Fable digital card game called Fable Fortune. The firm had been working on this for 18 months before the studio was shut.

Now that card game is coming to Kickstarter via a new indie developer – Flaming Fowl Studios – founded by Lionhead alumni Craig Oman, Mike West and Marcus Lynn.

Fable Fortune is headed to Kickstarter to get its funding, with Microsoft giving Flaming Fowl licence to release the title. Admittedly, this is pretty surprising given that the giant turned away several buyers for Lionhead.

The game’s crowd-funding campaign launches today (Tuesday, May 31st) at 3pm BST. The studio hopes to raise 250,000 in four weeks.

Fable Fortunes is set for an early 2017 release date.
