GungHo signs Skulls of the Shogun studio 17-Bit

GungHo Online Entertainment’s US branch has partnered with Seattle-based developer 17-Bit to publish and promote future games from the studio.

The Japanese video game company is best known for its mobile mega-hit Puzzle and Dragons, which has accounted for the vast majority of the firm’s revenue over the past couple years. However, the company is both looking to make a splash into the core gamer market as well as a deeper push into the west.

"17-Bit’s dedication to re-energizing classic genres for next-gen gaming fits perfectly with GungHo’s core values and notably expands the breadth of our game portfolio," GungHo Online Entertainment America CEO Jun Iwasaki said.

"We pursued this partnership because we have high expectations for the developer and are eagerly awaiting to collaborate on their next major release."

17-Bit is currently developing 2D sci-fi shooter Galax-Z: The Dimensional for PlayStation 4, PS Vita and Windows PC. Gungho is also publishing Grasshopper Manufature’s upcoming PlayStation 4 release Let it Die.
