Koch Media insists it is not for sale

Deep Silver owner Koch Media has dismissed reports that it is on the hunt for a buyer.

Handelsblatt reported over the weekend that Koch had enlisted the services of UBS to find a buyer for the publisher. However, in an unusual move Koch took to Twitter to affirm its position.

We have seen a recent report suggesting Koch Media is for sale. We are happy to say that Koch Media (including its premium games publishing label Deep Silver) is well-financed, profitable, and a stable and growing business in the entertainment industry,” it said.

Independent companies like us understandably attract interest. As a matter of fact, we ourselves are always on the lookout for responsible acquisition opportunities in the fields of publishing and distribution to accelerate our growth.

But we are not for sale.”

What’s most interesting is that rumours of a for sale sign going up at Koch’s Munich office arrive as many start to speculate that it is the obvious candidate to make an acquisition of its own.

Crysis and Homefront: The Revolution developer Crytek has been the subject of all sorts of rumours these last weeks, the most recent of which suggests that a good chunk of the staff are simply refusing to turn up for work.

Deep Silver is already publishing Homefront: The Revolution, and last year the company swooped to buy the Saints Row and Metro IPs after offering four times the amount bid by closest rival Ubisoft. Is a studio acquisition the next logical step?
