Lords of the Fallen 2 is in development

Developer CI Games has begun work on a sequel to Lords of the Fallen.

"We’re now working on vision and concepts for Lords 2," executive producer Tomasz Gop told Euroogamer, without revealing any further details.

The studio had previously revealed that it had shipped around 700,000 copies of the game, 200,000 of which had been sold to consumers. With a development budget just short of 8m, the studio needed to ship in the region of half a million copies to break even.

CI said last month that the success of the game has led to confirmed development of two further triple-A titles, although it is not known if Lords of the Fallen 2 is one of them.

Gop has previously spoken about how he struggled with the persistent comparisons between Fallen and the game it so happily follows – Dark Souls.

"I had a really tough time around a year ago, or even beyond that,” he said in May. "It’s a tough start for a developer to be associated that strongly with something, even if it is something that’s a great inspiration.

"But at the same time, just one day I said, ‘Hey man, you have to let go. Whatever people think, just make sure it’s not going to be a rip-off, it’s not going to be a bad inspiration,’ and I sleep way better since then.”
