Marvelous sets up UK social and mobile publisher

The Japanese publisher behind No More Heroes is coming to Europe.

Marvelous AQL – the result of last year’s merger between Marvelous Entertainment, AQ Interactive and mobile developer Liveware – has created a new subsidiary MAQL Europe.

The firm will be based in Tunbridge Wells and headed up by CEO Harry Holmwood, formerly of Pure Entertainment and US accessories vendor PDP.

MAQL Europe will focus on social and mobile games.

Marvelous has been hugely successful in Japan with browser games like Three Kingdoms and Logres of Swords and Sorcery,” Holmwood told MCV. With the advent of free-to-play models rapidly gaining momentum in the West, now is definitely the right time to bring that expertise in both and content and monetisation to the European market.”

MAQL will release Logres in Europe, as well as iOS and Android games.
