Mighty No 9 looking for even more crowdfunding

Despite smashing its Kickstarter target in October of last year, the team behind platform title Mighty No 9 has decided to ask for yet more crowdsourced funding.

The Keiji Inafune title last year raised $3,845,170 on Kickstarter, obliterating its $900k goal and hitting all of its stretch goals.

Yet now Inafune has announced that the game has opened up yet more crowdfunding, this time directly through PayPal.

The video game we proposed in the Kickstarter campaign last year is going to be completed with all of the funding we received from backers,” an FAQ said.

For this new funding campaign we are looking to add new content to the game that we did not or could not add to the stretch goals during the original funding campaign.”

The studio also pressed that any additional funds will be for additional content, saying that content that was previously sold as exclusive to Kickstarter backers will remain so.

One of the most important aspects of this new funding campaign is making sure our backers know that we hold their contribution sacred, and we don’t want this campaign to impact original backer rewards in any way,” it added.

We have a huge list of ideas we’d love to put in the game if funding allows, but we’ve decided to take it slow and incorporating fan feedback into our ongoing campaign.”
