PC is joining Destiny 2 lineup as official trailer lands

Destiny 2 will be released on PS4, Xbox One and, for the first time, PC, when it debuts on September 8th.

The game also has its first full-length official trailer, which you can see below. As has been previously suggested, characters, weapons and gear do not carry over from the first game, meaning everyone will be starting out on a level footing.

Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion,” the official blurb reads. He has stripped the city’s Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities.

To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home.”

Interestingly, everything we have seen of the game’s official promotional material so far is brimming with personality. Overtly so, actually, and most definitely in stark contrast to the original Destiny.

As is the way, pre-orders for a selection of SKUs and a Season Pass are already open. Prices start at $59.99 and climb all the way up to $249 for the Collector’s Edition that includes a solar blanket, solar USB charger and a bag.

A pre-order for any version of the game also grants first access to the beta, although the beta will at some stage be rolled out to everyone. Both betas will arrive some time in the summer.

Like the original, Destiny 2 will offer PS4 exclusive content that is locked away from other platforms for one year. Note that unlike its predecessor, Destiny 2 will not be released for PS3 or Xbox 360, although this will surprise no-one after legacy system were dropped for Rise of Iron.
