PlayStation, Warner Bros and Bethesda sweep MCV Awards 2016

Sports Interactive boss Miles Jacobson has been named Person of the Year at the MCV Awards 2016.

In a tribute video to Jacobson, leading industry figures discussed his outstanding achievements with Sports Interactive, Championship Manager and Football Manager, plus his incredible work for the charities War Child and Games Aid. Contributors included former UKIE chairman Andy Payne, former Eidos CEO Ian Livingstone, Sports Interactive co-founder Paul Collyer, Sega Europe president Jurgen Post, SI senior producers Marc Duffy and Grant Appleyard and War Child chief executive Rob Williams.

Bethesda’s Rosemarie Dalton – who has worked tirelessly for Games Aid – was presented with the award for Unsung Hero by friend and former colleague Caroline Miller of Indigo Pearl. She said of Dalton: This person is the very essence of an unsung hero. Someone who gets the job done without making a fuss. Someone who works tirelessly in the background – when others take the glory.”

It was also a big night for PlayStation which picked up awards for Sales Team, Digital Marketing Team, Trade Marketing Team and Community Team.

WB Games took to the stage three times, claiming the prizes for New Games Brand (for LEGO Dimensions), Marketing Team and PR Team.

And Bethesda claimed one of the big awards of the evening – Games Publisher of the Year – along with the Game Campaign accolade for Fallout 4.

In the retail category, GAME won the Specialist Retailer and Buying Team awards, Games Centre was named Independent Retailer and Argos took the prize for Mainstream Retailer. Paul Caisley of Grainger Games Metro Centre was named Store Manager of the Year.

Elsewhere, awards were claimed by Turtle Beach (Peripherals & Accessories Brand), Bandai Namco (Sales Triumph for The Witcher 3), Centresoft (Distribution Team), Devolver (Indie Games Label), Indigo Pearl (Agency Team), IGN (Media Team) and Gamer Events (Events Team).

The MCV Awards 2016 was held at the Bankside Hilton Hotel, London, with 520 industry execs in attendance. The event was supported by Gamescom, Bridge Media Group, Playwire Media, OPM, Curse Inc., Aardvark Swift, ShopTo, 2K, Lime Distribution, Curve Digital and Twitch.
