Steam Big Picture launches alongside week-long sale

Valve has taken another step toward bringing PC gaming into the living room with the public release of Steam’s Big Picture mode.

Big Picture is designed to allow PC gamers to play their Steam titles on a television with a traditional gamepad – though it still fully supports keyboard and mouse input. Users need only connect their PC or Mac to a television with an HDMI cable and click on the ‘Big Picture’ button in the Steam client.

The mode, which had been in public beta since September, is available worldwide in over 20 languages, including German, French, Russian, Korean, and Portuguese.

To promote the launch, Valve is throwing week-long discounts on over 30 controller-friendly Steam titles that are right up Big Picture’s alley. Sale ends December 10th.
