True Crime renamed Sleeping Dogs

UPDATE: New name for True Crime: Hong Kong now confirmed

Reports suggest that canned Activision action title True Crime: Hong Kong will be released as Sleeping Dogs by Square Enix.

Tweets from Canadian games retailer Future Shop showed off the game’s new artwork – prompting many to speculate that this is the new name for the True Crime reboot.

While no official confirmation has been given, MCV expects Square Enix to formally announce Sleeping Dogs later today.

True Crime: Hong Kong was cancelled by Activision last February, despite the game nearing completion. Square Enix then secured a deal with developer United Front Games to rescue the game.

However, since Activision still owns the True Crime brand, a new name was always going to be needed. Looks like they Square has decided on one.

Future Shop claims Sleeping Dogs is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this August.
