Upcoming Tony Hawk game could be called Tony Hawk 5

A photo posted online by an event caterer appears to name the next Tony Hawk’s game as simply Tony Hawk 5.

The picture in question, which was allegedly taken at a behind-closed-doors event for the game, has since been removed from Instagram – but not before it was captured by a reporter.

Activision has since told Polygon that Tony Hawk 5 is the game’s working title.

Hope of a new release in the hit series first emerged early last year when Activision confirmed it was working with Hawk on a new project. It eventually transpired that the game in question was a mobile exclusive.

However, the following November Hawk confirmed its cancellation – while also stating that he and Activision were working on a new console game.

The name Tony Hawk 5, be it final or otherwise, suggests that the title will resume where Tony Haw’s Pro Skater 4 left off in 2002. In the years that followed the series underwent several iterations and revisions, including Underground, American Wasteland, Project 8 and Proving Ground.

Things went awry when Neversoft, which has since closed completely, was taken off the franchise and Robomondo stepped up to develop peripheral-based releases Ride and Shred.

The most recent release for the franchise was 2012 remake Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD.
