Xbox 360 leads US hardware sales in November

There may be new consoles and handhelds on shelves, but Microsoft’s seven-year-old machine still shifts the most units in the US.

November data from NPD Group shows that 1.26m Xbox 360s were sold throughout the month, Joystiq reports.

However, NPD notes that its ‘November’ report covers October 28th to November 24th. Therefore, this figure does not include all of the 750,000 that we know were sold over the Black Friday weekend.

Microsoft’s console far outperformed the newly launched Wii U, which sold 425,000 units in its first week. The original Wii still fares well, with 420,000 units sold.

Meanwhile Nintendo’s handhelds 3DS and DS sold 540,000 and 370,000 units respectively.

In total, hardware sales accounted for $838.9m in November.
