Xbox Live founder announces departure from Microsoft

Xbox Live manager and XNA framework developer Boyd Multerer has announced his exit from Microsoft.

Gamasutra reports on Multerer’s departure, which comes following 20 years of work with the company. He initially started as a contractor with Microsoft and was later brought on as a full-time software developer.

The industry veteran was associated with many projects during his two-decade run with Microsoft, but will be remembered most for leading development on both Xbox Live and XNA – both of which played major roles in helping independent studios bring their titles to Microsoft’s Xbox console line.

Multerer has yet to reveal any post-Microsoft plans, so it’s unclear at this point what or where he’ll be moving on to.
