YouTube lands on Xbox Live

UK Xbox 360 owners will be able to access a host of new dashboard apps today including YouTube, Blinkbox, MSN and Muzu.TV.

As well as being able to view content from internet video giant YouTube, gamers can now watch over 10,000 films using digital movie service Blinkbox via the Xbox Live dashboard.

This Blinkbox app makes use of Kinect’s motion and voice controls, while an iPad app has also launched for the service.
360 users can access new apps from entertainment portal MSN and music video firm Muzu.TV, too.

A statement sent on behalf of Microsoft read: Xbox 360 is building on its expansive catalogue of movies, sports, television and music and we’re happy to offer new entertainment experiences starting today on Xbox Live.”

Blinkbox founder and CEO Michael Comish added: Blinkbox now being available on both Xbox 360 and iPad means that our customers have more choice and control over how they watch their favourite entertainment. We can bring our huge library of blockbuster movies to even more people across the UK with the Xbox 360 and iPad applications.”

The new Xbox 360 dashboard went live last week.
