Snes9x emulator pulled from Android Market

Google has removed a popular software emulator that allows Android users to play illegal copies of SNES games on their handsets from the Android Marketplace.

Pocket Gamer reports that Google said the download violated the Developer Content policy”. Furthermore, its developer Ex Plus Alpha risks a permanent ban from the portal if it tries to resubmit the app under a different name.

Other emulators to be banned from the Android Marketplace include PSX4Droid (PlayStation), Gensoid (Mega Drive) and N64oid (N64).

Amongst the features included on Snes9x was the ability to play multiplayer games using a Wii Remote or Wii Classic Controller. Of course, the software can still be had directly from the developer’s website.
