RIM offers $100 of free apps following Blackberry outages

Following RIM’s worldwideBlackBerry signal failure, the firm plans to make it up to the millions of irate customers with a selection of apps in a bid to "work tirelessly to restore their confidence."

BlackBerry users received little or no information from RIM on the service outage, which has led many to talk of a move to alternative devices such as Apple’s iPhone 4S.

RIM says the apps will arrive over the next few weeks and users will have until the close of 2011 to download them.
