Halfbrick bringing Fruit Ninja to table top / card games

Buried in a press release from Mattel is mention of a series of products coming out based on Halfbrick Studios’ successful Fruit Ninja franchise.

The press release states that Mattel will be capturing ‘the essence of Fruit Ninja’s fast-paced play with an innovative line of table-top and card games inspired by the top-rated app.’

If true, Halfbrick will be joining a long line of other indie developers leveraging the huge brand recognition of their key franchises on iOS platforms with a stream of merchandise, including Angry Birds clothing and soft toys, and Doodle Jump fridge magnets.

The Mattel web site lists the ‘line of’ products as available in Spring 2011 (Southern hemisphere).
