Words With Friends coming to Facebook

Casual games Zynga has announced it is currently working on a Facebook version of Words With Friends.

The hugely popular Scrabble-esque is Zynga’s biggest mobile title. The firm bought the game’s original developer Newtoy back in December.

Consumers can currently signing up for updates on the launch by "Liking" the official Facebook page. Zynga currently has the release date listed as "Coming soon".

"Everyone’s favourite mobile word game is coming to Facebook," reads the page’s teaser. "Soon you’ll be able to play even more games, because who don’t you know on here?"

The move marks a shift in Zynga’s efforts to bridge the worlds of mobile gaming and social networks. It’s leading Facebook titles such as FarmVille and CityVille are available for smartphones, and Words With Friends could be the first of the company’s many mobile games to make the opposite transition.
