Sony facing 55 lawsuits over PSN breach

It has emerged that Sony is facing a total of 55 lawsuits in the US making claims relating to the much-publicised PSN outage earlier this year.

Sony has made numerous claims to insurer Zurich American to cover its legal fees according to a commercial general liability policy taken out in April of this year.

However, Zurich is arguing that the policy does not place it under any obligation to cover Sony’s legal fees.

So heated has the disagreement become that Zurich is now asking courts to make an official declaration to support its stance.

"Zurich doesn’t think there’s coverage, but to the extent there may be a duty to defend it wants to make sure all of the insurers with a potential duty to defend are contributing," Cozen O’Connor attorney Richard Bortnick told Reuters.
