Strong response for Amazon trade-ins

Consumers have reacted positively to Amazon UK’s trade-in offer, the company has told MCV.

In January this year, retail experts criticised Amazon’s game trade-in plans. ShopTo’s former marketing manager Phil Driver told MCV the long process of trading in online would be ‘intolerable’ for consumers compared to store trade-ins.

However, Amazon.co.uk’s video games manager Liz Hosmer says the firm’s new trade-in system is already going down well.

Trading in with Amazon.co.uk is quick and easy, providing customers with a great way to exchange their old games and save money on future purchases,” she told MCV.

We’ve had a very positive response from customers.”
Amazon won the General Retailer MCV Award this year. The company also launched an Android App Store and cloud MP3 player in the US. In the UK, it acquired online rental specialist LoveFilm.

Hosmer added: We are delighted to welcome the LoveFilm team to Amazon’s family. There are a number of exciting opportunities for the future, but it’s too early to go into details.”
