PS3 hits 50m units worldwide

SCE has today announced that as of March 29th 2011 total worldwide sales of its PS3 console have reached the 50m unit mark.

It has also confirmed that total sales of the PlayStation Move controller have reached 8m units as of April 3rd. Move was launched in September 2010.

As if that weren’t enough, PlayStation Network now has in excess of 75m registered accounts across 59 countries. In total over 32,840 pieces of content are now available on the service.

Sony also says that 89 stereoscopic 3D games are now available for the system while a total of 155 games now support 3D visuals.

The wider PS3 library now numbers over 2,128 titles all of which combined have sold 480m+ units.
