Bungie denies previous MMO claim [Update]

[Update: Bungie has claimed that its announcement regarding work on an MMO was a joke. This comes after the studio appeared to confirm rumous that its new project would be massively multiplayer. More can be found on the firm’s own website.

As has long been speculated, developer Bungie has confirmed that its currently in-development mystery Activision-published game is an MMO.

The news comes from Bungie lead network engineer David Aldridge who the title as a "massively multiplayer action game" at GDC, as reported by IGN.

However, Aldridge dismissed the idea that the game will be akin to "World of Warcraft in space". The only other hint we have? His GDC talk was entitled "I Shot You First: Networking the Gameplay of Halo: Reach".
