Devil May Cry film rights acquired

Capcom’s Devil May Cry could be the next video games IP to get the Hollywood treatment.

Variety reports that Screen Gems, the Sony-owned producer of the Resident Evil movie franchise, has acquired the film rights to the series.

The deal was brokered by Digital Development Management on behalf of Capcom.

Kyle Ward has been hired to pen the script which will reportedly stay true to the overall premise of the games – that being hero Dante slaughtering demons in an attempt to avenge the death of his mother.

Despite its critical unpopularity, the Resident Evil movie series has to date grossed in excess of $580m worldwide.

The big question is, of course, what colour hair?
