Worms merchandise incoming

Developer Team 17 has launched a licensing program for its classic Worms franchise.

The studio has hired agency AT New Media to offer the franchise to licensees, retailers and promoters. The agency says the Worms characters are ideal for toys, books, plush toys, clothing and more.

We are very excited at the prospect of working with licensees, manufacturers and promoters,” says Team 17 co-founder and MD Debbie Bestwick.

The Worms brand has a vast array of cheeky, funny and cute characteristics, which inspires great merchandise design. It’s something we’ve always been asked to do, and with the success of the Worms brand across social, digital and mobile gaming platforms we have the freedom and flexibility to pursue the opportunity fully.”

Over 30m Worms games have been sold in the series’ 16-year history, with more titles sold year-on-year for the last three years than ever before.

When you realise that Worms does not already have an extensive licensing program, you are amazed,” added AT New Media business development director Simon Kay.
