3DS compatible with DSi chargers

The Nintendo 3DS will be compatible with standard DSi chargers when it hits stores later this year.

Game boxes are also slimmer than DS titles, and 3DS consoles can exchange data with other units even when in sleep mode, reports GoNintendo.

The site issued a roundup of hardware details following new information about the 3DS on Nintendo’s Japanese website.

3DS cartridges also feature a lip on the upper right corner to distinguish them from normal DS games, while parental controls can regulate transfers made between different 3DS consoles.

The top 3DS screen supports a resolution of 800×240, pixels while the bottom screen has a resolution of 256×192 pixels. It has also been revealed that up to 12 transfers can be made between two 3DS machines at once.

The 3DS is due to hit UK shelves before the end of March. Full launch details are expected to be announced at a Nintendo press conference in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
