VC funding set to boost Pocket Gems expansion

Social mobile firm’s multi-million dollar month

US mobile social games developer Pocket Gems has announced that it made more than $1 million of revenues last month from its five iOS games.

The freemium titles – Tap Zoo, Tap Farm, Tap Store, Tap Jungle and Tap Zoo Christmas – have been downloaded nearly 18 million times, and make their money from sales of virtual items via in-app purchase.

The company added 2.5 million new installs in December. During that month, Pocket Gems also secured a $5 million investment round led by Sequoia Capital.
