Ghostbusters sequel skips retail

A sequel to Atari’s 2009 console hit Ghostbusters: The Video Game will skip retail altogether and instead be released on Xbox Live, PSN and PC.

USA Today reports Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime will once again see players assume the role of the Ghostbusting rookie hired to the team in the last game.

The screenshots show a top-down isometric take on the Ghostbusters universe. However, developer Terminal Reality has not been recruited for the sequel, which is being developed by Wanako.

It’s designed for four-player co-op both locally and online, with big bosses promised.

None of the original Hollywood cast – which includes Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd – will appear in the game.
