JAPAN: PS2 remains most popular console

The world’s most successful home console still holds a commanding position in Japanese homes, according to a survey conducted by CESA on the last day of this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

VG247 reports that 70 per cent of respondents still said the decade old machine was amongst their most played, though this was down on the 78 per cent who said the same last year.

Nintendo’s DS was next up with 68.7 per cent, followed by the PSP with 68.6 per cent – Sony’s portable remains a powerful device in the region.

Wii claimed 56.7 per cent, the PS3 47.7 per cent and Xbox 360 just 19.6 per cent.
