Kinect: Core gamers want to sit down

Wedbush MD and analyst Michael Pachter has said Kinect’s biggest barrier to success is not its price or software – it’s that the Xbox 360’s core audience simply doesn’t want to stand up.

I think that the biggest impediment to Kinect games ever being considered triple-A is that they require the user to stand,” he told MCV.

Most gamers are couch potatoes, and I don’t see the masses embracing Kinect for a triple-A game."

Pachter also foresees problems with the device’s software line-up, predicting that it will take some time for quality product to hit the shelves.

"I think we’ll see quality right away – Dance Central is a shining example – but I don’t think we’ll see triple-A games for a long while."
