Engine vendor ready to announce new move to expand platform support

Unity clocks 100,000 registered users

Californian engine group Unity has surpassed 100,000 registered users, the company has announced.

“It’s amazing we’ve reached this milestone so quickly,” said Unity CEO David Helgason. In October last year the company announced a free version of the Unity platform, on top of its pro and iPhone editions.

In February, Unity revealed to Develop that its engine’s user-based soared 240 per cent last year.

“We remain laser focused on pushing the edge in interactive 3D development and expanding usability, power and platform reach so developers can continue to create breakthrough content and take advantage of all the opportunities out there,” added Helgason.

Now the group is readying an announcement for the upcoming Game Developers Conference. Details on this announcement are scarce, though the firm said it is looking to expand platform support.

GDC takes place from March 9.
