PS3 gets Metacritic 2009 gong

Reviews aggregation site Metacritic has revealed its 2009 Game Platform Power Rankings charts, and it’s the PS3 that has emerged as this year’s champion.

The chart combines a number of factors but is designed to name the platform that has consistently delivered the best quality software over the last 12 months.

Xbox 360 was the console that actually finished with the highest number of positively reviewed games, with 88 titles scoring 75 or higher overall. In addition, the Wii received the highest number of new titles – 362 throughout the year.

However, the PS3 was said to be the console that boasted the overall highest quality, claiming five of the highest scoring games in 2009. Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was named as the single best-rated title.
