Independent Games Festival showcases 15 submissions

Voting open for IGF Audience Award

The organisers of the Independent Games Festival 2009 have opened the voting process for the event’s Audience Award.

The IGF Awards will run alongside the Game Developers Choice Awards at the Game Developers Conference 2009. The Audience Award category is voted for by the public, who can access the 15 nominated games through the event website.

Online voting will continue until March 20th, before the winner is awarded $2,500 at the IGF Awards ceremony in San Francisco. Finalists were chosen from a list of 226 submissions, and represent the best of independent gaming across various platforms including online, PSN and XNA Community. Highlights included Dyson, The Graveyard and The Maw.

“The Audience Award is always one of my favorite categories, as such a big part of the independent movement is about giving the public a voice,” said Simon Carless, IGF chairman. “With the quality of the finalist games that have been nominated this year, we hope to have a record amount of votes on the website.”
